Welcome to the YA and Children's Book Podcast (for Adults)! Our show is hosted by two book enthusiasts: a writer (Sarah Hansen) and a teacher (Terri La Rue). Together, we are rereading and discussing the books that shaped us. If you’ve ever wondered which Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants character you are, why horse girls get so many books written about them, or how Stuart Little's human mother gave birth to a mouse, then this is the show for you. Join us as we relive childhood, one book at a time. New episodes every other week!

Sandra Cisneros's debut novel is a modern classic of Chicano literature. The story follows Esperanza Cordero, a 12-year-old Mexican-American girl living in a Latinx neighborhood in Chicago. Cisneros's writing is alive with the magic of poetry and empathy. In celebration of our tenth episode, we are joined by Sonya Lara, a Mexican-American writer from Chicago who has wonderful insights into the book.
